9 Month old - first cold! No sleep?!

Baby is 9 months. Has done 2 settling in sessions at nursery (3rd was suppose to be today) and already has got his first cold.

full of snot, miserable. Last night one of us literally had to hold him up to sleep and after approx every 45 mins he woke up screaming. He couldn’t breath through his nose so couldn’t use dummy, couldn’t drink his milk well etc, kept waking and then crying from tiredness etc

tonight we have done a steamy menthol type bath, Vicks on his chest and feet as I read to do that, nasal spray and used a sucker thing to pull it all out. Also bought a Vicks humidifier for his room and a Calpol plug which was broken (getting another tomorrow)

anywhoo… rambling. I guess my question is how long does a cold last in a baby? I don’t think we could handle multiple nights of one of us staying awake holding him upright asleep. Is it the same as an adult? A few days?

Hopefully it'll be over quickly - maybe two or three days/nights. It's miserable for everyone but it sounds like you've got things to use! If you can elevate the mattress a little (towel underneath or prop the cot) that will help with the breathing. Hope you get a better night.
