Glue ear

DS has been suffering with constant ear infections, having at least one inner ear infection a month. He is 18 months old and it’s effecting his hearing and speech. Doctors have confirmed they think he has glue ear in both ears. We are still waiting for an appointment with audiology and have been for months. It is just breaking my heart seeing my son is so much pain. He constantly tugs at his ears and cries. Does anyone else have any experience of glue ear and what the process was with the first appointment at the hospital? I know grommets are an option but how quickly do these work? I just worry how much this will effect his development as it’s causing him to have hearing loss 😞

My sons hearing was instantly resolved with grommets surgery but it took over a year to get them from our first referral 😢

It’s just so frustrating and heart breaking seeing them in pain and not being able to do anything 😢 that’s really good it was solved though, we were referred in July and were told not to expect to hear anything until Christmas 😞 wish we could afford to take him private

DD2 had glue ear which caused 25% hearing loss in both ears. We ended up going private because of the wait times and she had grommets fitted which fixed the problem.

At our first appointment they did a variety of hearing tests to work out how severe the problem was. Then they discussed a few options with us and asked what we wanted to do. After that, we booked an appointment for her to have grommets fitted.
