Milk/bottle as a comfort

My LO is now 19 months and still has milk before bed in a bottle (yes I know we should have stopped this - don’t judge!)

recently, it has become a major comfort and he is going up to the fridge at least 4 times a day asking for milk!! And if not given, having a major tantrum.

I have tried offering milk in a cup, before bedtime, but again… refuses and has a tantrum! .

I really need to cut this out as he also now uses the bottle as a comfort to go to sleep once the milk is finished. I know he can fall asleep without this, as he does it at nursery.

any suggestions on how I can cut this out? Do I literally just throw the bottles away and go cold turkey?

Hiya, if it makes you feel any better my DD is 2 and still has a bottle.

were currently querying SEN for multiple reasons. but she literally will not drink out of anything besides a bottle. we have brought every single one going; gone cold turkey, the lot.

I spoke to my HV about this and she basically said not to worry too much about a bottle at this age as she had only just turned 2. DD will try and drink out of other things besides a bottle however after one sip just throws it and won’t touch it again.

A few suggestions made to me was that could try favourite drink in a sippy cup/ beaker etc. or a comfort teddy / blanket for night time. Have you asked nursery what their routine is for nap time?
