Can I request a different HV for my DD’s 2 year check? We saw a HV in clinic a couple months back (not my child’s HV) who was so rude and condescending towards my child’s SEN concerns etc. she also was very patronising towards me as a mom. My DD is due her 2 year check and I really don’t want it to be her who comes out and does it, she made me very uncomfortable before and it’s stressing me out at the thought of her coming into my home. Should I phone them and ask who’s coming out and request someone else if they say it’s her? Will they let me request for someone else?

HV here, you absolutely can request a different HV. Are you in England or Scotland? The pathways are a bit different in Scotland, we tend to visit all the mums on our caseload and very rarely source the work out to other HVs. I have heard it’s a bit of a nightmare in England with people not being seen but if you phone up and ask to speak to the team lead they should ensure that you see someone else

yes you can, I haven’t seen a HV since my dd was 10 days old. Now 6.

@Tiredmummy101 @EmeraldTheSeahorse Hiya thanks for your replies. Thats a relief! I’m in England, my previous named HV I absolutely loved but unfortunately she left and since then we’ve sort of seen different people but I’m positive my named HV now isn’t the one we saw in clinic so fingers crossed it’s not her coming out to do my DD’s 2 year check. I’m not even sure what her name was, I’ll have to try and describe her to the HV lead when I phone. Knowing my luck it will be her who’s the team lead!
