Air up bottles....

My 2 dc have asked for these for Christmas. I've heared they're not worth the money. On the other hand I am stuck for ideas and like to get them stuff they actually want rather than crap they won't touch.

Anyone else have them?

We did get 9ne for my girl. She loves it & has looked after it well (we hammered in that if it broke/got lost we would not buy another 30quid?! For a bottle?!?)

Glovesandscarf · 20/10/2023 16:01

It leaks like a mofo tho if remotely not upright.

yarnwitch · 20/10/2023 16:18

My DD has one, I think they're an expensive gimmick but she really wanted one for her birthday.
Hers hasn't leaked and it does feel well made. It's worth buying the bottle brush with it (or another decent one) as they do collect mould around the spout if not cleaned thoroughly.
The pods are expensive and don't last long. In my opinion they don't give a nice flavour, but my DD likes them and it has encouraged her to drink more water.
I would buy one again as a gift, I agree its better to get something they want and will use than tat.

We have one and an Amazon dupe, which is just as good for 18 quid.

PaganOfTheGoodTimes · 20/10/2023 16:22

My DD desperately wanted one and as she struggles to drink enough water we sucked up the cost... she hates it. No problems with leaks but she still drinks v little cos she doesn't like it. Pods are expensive too. I wouldn't bother again. Now she gets flavoured water in her bottle instead.

They are extremely popular with my class (y5/6). To be fair lots of them have had them since last Christmas and they’re still going strong. It IS a crazy amount of money for a bottle, but on the flip side if that’s what they want and you would normally spend that then why not?

Littlefish · 20/10/2023 16:41

I had one. I only used it about 6-8 times. It leaked, didn't flow properly, and certainly didn't make plan water taste particularly fruity.

It was an expensive waste of money.

CampervanKween · 20/10/2023 16:47

My son really was disappointed with his, we ended up returning it and have just got partially refunded.

GlitteryFarts · 20/10/2023 16:48

I got dupes off shein for £4 with a free pod. Additional pods are 1.25ish each! They're great, I wouldn't pay full price for them because my kids drop their water bottles all the time and the metal ones are £50ish?!

cocksstrideintheevening · 20/10/2023 16:53

They're shit. Weird shape, leak, the pods are expensive and taste awful. Dts' ended up in the recycling.

BHRK · 20/10/2023 17:37

Ours has never leaked and we’ve had it for nine months. Really well made. You do have to make sure the seal is pushed in all the way round and the top screwed on fully. They are a craze at our school and lots of kids have them. I have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well made they are!

holachicatita · 20/10/2023 20:42

Finally gave in and got my daughter one for her birthday and she loves it! I refused to buy her one just because, made her wait 10 months till her birthday to make sure she definitely wanted it and she's delighted. I actually got a discount code from a thread on here, if you search air up you might find one too!

CatsTheWayToDoIt · 20/10/2023 20:51

I bought one for my son for his birthday. I’d say not worth the money for a water bottle - but worth it for the joy it gave him!

StrawberryPavlova · 20/10/2023 21:02

My 11 year old has had one for nearly a year, since her birthday in January, and she still uses it all the time. She buys pods with her pocket money if she wants to try a new flavour. Definitely recommend buying an additional mouthpiece and/or a good bottle brush to clean inside the spout as they do go a bit mouldy weirdly quickly, but I wash hers every day and put the silicone bits in the dishwasher once a week and they've stayed clean.

The referral discount only seems to be 10% now, it used to be 20%, but here's my link if you want to use it.

If you do get one for goodness sakes label it well . We have so many distraught kids at school who've lost them and they all look the same

jadey1991 · 21/10/2023 23:02

Such a great topic.. my 9 year old wants one too, but the asking price for these are expensive. I'll prefer to go asda or poundshop.
I've already told her I refuse to lay so much money for it. If it breaks then what

Jones3A · 13/11/2023 14:43

My kids also asking for these, my main concern is are the pods environmentally hideous?! How many do they get through?

Chalkdowns · 13/11/2023 14:46

I got one as a Xmas pressie and she has loved it every day since last Xmas. It was worth the money for her!
