Advice on navigating daycare

Hello everyone!

I’ve starting the process of engaging daycares for my 15mon old, and I’m not feeling good about it.

at a bday party a few weeks back a mum I met recommended a place her boys go to, and I followed up with the lead.

today, I decided to walk by the daycare as it’s a 14min walk, but was disappointed to see that the outdoor play area was fenced with chain link and had all plastic toys. I’m worried that the inside will be all overhead fluorescent lighting and no sunlight, from the looks of the building.

I liked that there was loads of grass where the toys were and that the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful.

what are questions I should be asking? I’ve seen many horror stories on here about babies being left in diapers too long so obviously that’s a question, but what else would you recommend I ask? Mainly in regards to my child’s care.

I am considering this place only because it was recommended by two highly educated people… a scholar and a veterinarian.

I would enquire in more than one and visit them all to get a feel for them. I would also look into childminders if u are worried about the building, mine used to do lots of outings.
You will get a vibe how they interact with you, your child and other children. Ofsted reports are worth reading, i would ask about ratios, nappy changes, food, how they support your child.Good luck.
