For foreign or migrant mothers (what Western cartoons are good?)

Hi,

I am wondering if there are any South Asian Mothers on here. I am wondering if there any parents who have lived in two countries with different culture like India or Sri Lanka. I am wondering what they think about the differences between Western and Indian or Asian cartoons.

Is there a difference between them. I am a millennial mother and I grew in part on cartoons like Bratz which you can find on Youtube 5 for free.

I think that the people in the cartoon are bitchy or moody but I have a theory that being exposed to stuff like this can get your child used to play ground antics although I do not want my children buying too many expensive items. I have met some men who have told me that they have never changed their mind on a women based on something like nail polish colour so I think that it is personally frivolous at times.

That said I think that thinking about whether a cartoon is good for your child is interesting. For example in the cartoon Bratz the characters seem hardworking but work for an evil magazine producer (I imagine some millennial mothers) may be familiar with this, cartoon from their own childhood. I think that this is good because looking back in the real world you have to work for people you do not like sometimes and in this cartoon many of the characters often do. They also have to put up with nepotism in the work place as part of the show. I think this this cartoon is responsible for me having improved emotional intelligence and me being able to put up with stuff even though I am glad that my own mum did not let me waste money on these kinds of toys.

I have a son as well and the effect of cartoons is interesting. Many millenial men grew up with the cartoon series Yu-gi-oh which is creative but easy to waste money on. I have seen some cards be very expensive. I think what a lot of people do is watch lets plays or play online rather than wasting money excessively. I watched a few episodes of yu-gi-oh as a women and came to this conclusion. Many millenial children I know never made an offical deck (this is a list of cards needed to play the game properly and competitevely) and some are apparently using them for un-offical uses such as joke yu-gi-oh card tarot readings and fortune telling which is usually a female dominated area in my opinion. These are not like normal tarrot readign but tarrot readings made from random yu-gi-oh cards where people make stuff up for fun using the cards the other person picks. This is useful because many children just buy and get bored of trading cards in my opinion. To me they are just pictures on cardboard.

In my opinion in some cartoon like Yu-gi-oh many male cartoons the characters refuse to put up with anything that does not stick to their moral philosophy. Their philosophy is often a good one but life does not always work that way and they are often visceral and emotional about everything. Yu-gi-oh from what I know is still going on under other names like ARC-V and Rush duel. I do not like my children watching yu-gi-oh. This sometimes occurs to some extent to cartoons like My little pony friendship is magic where Twilight sparkle has to learn something every episode or she has not done things right. Sometimes in life this is not true and you get your pay check and go in my opinion although it is a good cartoon and from what I have heard many millennial man watched it too – Look this up. Sometimes you have to play Simon says and not get frustrated.

So this leads me to ask?:
Are there any cartoons you refuse to let your children watch and why?
What are the differences between Western cartoon and foreign cartoons?

Even if you are not a mother and you frequent these forums, it would be interesting to know. I know some international students who watched Indian cartoons in India and then watched Western cartoons while bored in the UK (United Kingdom).
