DD is 17 months and two weeks ago she developed a virus. She was extremely lethargic, was being sick most nights as well and just wasn’t herself at all. Also developed a viral rash, doctor ruled out measles.

I had to take time off to look after her as she was too unwell for nursery.

She started getting better and more herself but she’s started to get poorly again, realised that her back molars are coming through. Shes now refusing to eat anything, she still drinks water and milk but nothing else. She’s also feeling warm but she hasn’t got a fever so took her into nursery.

She’s gone from sleeping through to waking up all through the night. she is very whiny and cries all the time. Me and DH are absolutely exhausted. The doctors can’t find anything wrong with her. I’m so worried especially as she won’t even eat her fave foods and I’m finding it hard to focus at work. She’s at nursery and I think they might send her home as she’s not herself and looks like her temp is rising again. What could it be?

is it normal for them to get poorly for this long?

On top of it all I’m not well myself but can’t go sick again, and I’m flat out exhausted. DH works shifts so it’s tricky. What could it be?

Could you get signed off for a couple of weeks and focus on getting yourself and your daughter well? Sometimes children do take a while to get over things. She probably feels as awful as you especially if she's not sleeping or eating. Work can't take any action if you get signed off with exhaysion/stress.
