Help! Anbesol in baby's eyes

Long story short, I reached for anbesol liquid instead of vitamin D drops and got (a fair amount of) anbesol in my 9 month old's eyes. He screamed, I washed his eyes out immediately with cool water squeezed from cotton pads for approx 15 minutes, and afterwards he was smiling and focusing normally, and has quickly gone to sleep, despite one slightly pink inner eye.

Needless to say I feel shakey with adrenaline and generally horrendous. Any advice from others with similar incidents? Do I disturb him further with a trip to A&E? Thanks in advance.

Maybe try 111 and see if you can speak to a HCP 💐

How much went in when you say 'fair amount'? What does the bottle advise?

Personally if not a lot went in, I would be ok with that and monitor him when he wakes but you know your child best and were there witnessing it.

Generally a pH test is done for substances in eyes then eye washout if needed to correct pH. So might need to be seen by a clinician. I would say with eyes it's better to err on the side of caution
