Newborn thermometer

Hi all!

I've been reading such conflicting advice about what type of thermometer is the best and most accurate to use on newborns. Underarm, ear, forehead??

Any advice on what worked for you would be much appreciated!

I think underarm are best and easiest to use. We have a Braun one. The forehead ones aren’t very accurate and a newborns ears are too small for the ear ones. We brought an ear one too but haven’t used it yet - hopefully it will be useful when she is older.

We got an underarm one when DS was a baby but i've just ordered an in-ear one because now at 18 months he's too wriggly to use it on (even when he's poorly).

We had an in ear one but last week basically checked it against a paramedic's reading and found out it was massively inaccurate so quickly bought an underarm one!

Underarm - do splash out on one that gives a reading quickly. I didn't think about this and got a cheapo one, nothing worse than trying to hold down the arm of a screaming/sick baby for long enough to get the reading (or when they're older before they try to grab it)

Ahh a unanimous vote! Thank you all, that's cleared it up for me :) will look into the underarm thermometers x
