My child’s friend is going on holiday and missing a couple of days. They are going to tell the school they are ill. unfortunately my 6 year old is telling everyone they are going on holiday. Any advice? Feel really awkward about it.

You want advice on how to make your child into a liar? Are you sure that is what you want to teach them?

Schools always know when little ones are off due to a holiday - they just cannot keep anything to themselves! Your friend should come clean and not ask children to lie……

I am always honest about situations like this (in my case it was because I was too unwell myself to take my child to school and had no other support).
I was honest, hoping there might have been some support available.
There wasn't, and I paid the fine (it was one day and they had a clean run of attendance).

It grates on me when parents lie about holidays by saying their child is ill.
Who would lie about their child's health?

You can't tell your child not to tell the truth. It's teaching her to be dishonest and saying it is fine to lie when it's not.

I'd be tempted to tell her to shout it out to the whole class.

Eh, not so sure teaching your child to lie will work nor will it come to a good end! Tell the truth.

Might be the wrong wording . Just tired and stressed and now this.
The friend is refusing to play with my daughter at the moment because of it. My daughter is a bit of a tattle tale as well which doesn’t help. Wasn’t that long ago we had the head teacher call us as she told school her brother hit her (he didn’t).
We've gone away out of term time ourselves although didn’t receive a fine although possibly because both kids are sen.

There's no point lying. The teachers always know.
