I had an acrimonious split from my ex 3 years ago. We eventually went to court and a child contact order is in place but he keeps trying to change the meaning and won’t negotiate.
I think the court order is pretty standard. He has DS every other weekend and and 2 overnights during the week. For Easter, summer and Christmas the order sets out when we each DS. For half term it says usual term time arrangements apply. For Easter and summer outside of the additional agreed contact ( a block of 2 weeks in the summer and splitting Good Friday and Easter Sunday ) usual, term time arrangements apply.
I’m trying to agree Christmas with him. The court order says when and who DSs should be with over Christmas and new year but then says the remainder of the Christmas holiday should be shared equally. I take this to mean that the whole of the Christmas end of term break should be divided equally between us outside of the court ordered dates.
Ex is being difficult and says he’s only willing to negotiate on the dates between 24 Dec to 1 Jan, because he believes these to be the Christmas holiday, the says the rest of the dates don’t apply and also keeps saying it’s a half term so term time arrangements apply. I was hoping we could equally split the Christmas holidays to cut down on my childcare costs, which are crippling me at the moment.
Am I wrong? Christmas holidays usually mean the whole of the end of term Christmas holiday break for children doesn’t it? I think he’s just trying to control me, he’s always done that and was the reason I left the relationship.
