Toddler screaming in night?

22mo DS will wake crying or standing in his cot. I go to get him and then when I try to put him in his cot or in our bed he screams and gets so upset?

It’s happened 6 times in 2 weeks. And the screaming is lessening like for example I type this just after it’s happened, he only screamed for 5 mins then let me cuddle and rock him and he’s now next to me asleep.

Im so confused as to why he gets upset when I show him the cot or bed? :(

I rub his back and belly in case of trapped wind , I was unsure if it’s night terrors because he doesn’t wake screaming (sometimes a little cry) and he’s soothed when I pick him up and cuddle him - from the ones he’s had I remember he was inconsolable even if I cuddled him

the getting upset starts when I try and pop
him back to bed after a cuddle?

Anyone had this with their kids?? Maybe a bad dream not full
blown night terror so when he sees the bed he gets distressed?

Sounds normal op. Toddlers are getting better at expressing themselves and he's making it clear he wants to be beside you. It's normal separation anxiety. Wake ups Might be triggered by teething or something. We give our son a small warm bottle to have in bed and that helps to convince him to go back in if he wakes up crying,
