Getting a 2 year old to climb into a car seat

Currently expecting baby number 2 and trying to teach our just turned 2 year old to climb into his own seat. We have a forward facing car seat on the isofix base (maxi cosi).

Any tips please? Smile

Get one of those foldable step stools and keep it in the car

Erm what does he currently do when you tell him to get in the seat?

Just trying to work out which bit is causing an obstacle to try and think of a solution.

Practice! That's all that's needed. If your car isn't massively high they'll get it soon enough. Toddlers love to climb!

The isofix base car seats are quite high and harder for them to get up to. If your seat is a rear/forward facing one, but your 2yo can't be rear facing, it might be best to move them into something like Maxi Cosi Titan, which is still isofix but doesn't have the bulky base part, and reclaim the base for the baby seat - then keep baby rear facing for as long as possible as this is safest 🙂

Mine is in a maxi cosi seat but still rear facing - that might be an option for you as the one I have is not a swivel seat but can be fitted to the base either way round. Not sure if it's easier for him to get in because it's rear facing, but it looks like it might be. If the problem is that he is just mucking around and not getting in, then I am very familiar with the issue - enlisting neighbours to watch him climbing in and be really impressed helps, as does betting him he can't get in really quickly.
