Best bottles for breastfed baby? 🍼

Hi all, DD is 3 months and we’re going to start introducing a bottle of formula at night, mainly to get her used to taking a bottle so I can have a bit of a life (have an event on the 30th)

Shes been EBF until now, and doesn’t take a dummy. We’ve tried her with a Mam bottle with the 0 teat and she wasn’t having it at all (will keep trying)

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations please?

4 months in and still refusing but their best attempt was with a Nuk teat

Mine never took a bottle at all, but got on very well with a cup. Open or freeflow sippy both worked well.

My brother was drinking out of a cup at 3 months, so it's worth giving a go!

Pick a bottle. Offer at the same time every day for 2 weeks. For example 10 mins of bottle when baby wakes from an afternoon nap. If baby doesn't drink. It doesn't matter. Put the bottle away and offer again the next day. Be consistent with this for 2 weeks and baby will learn. It just takes time.

We used Phillips Avent Natural for DC1 and Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature with DC2. But both were having bottles regularly from being about two weeks old so they just took to it fine straight away.

In addition to the bottle type - are you trying to bottle feed her yourself or is someone else? Sometimes they won't take the bottle if mum is around. DD only did when I was out of the house (which worked for us as that was the only reason she needed an occasional bottle!)

Hi all, thanks for the advice! It was DH who had tried to bottle as it’ll just be him feeding with it when I’m away.

But I tried her this morning as she was very chilled so thought why not! And she took it fine! I did have to lay her down a bit towards by boob for her to realise it was food, but she seemed to like it! I then put her right on the boob cos it made me emotional so she’s a very full baby now having a nap 😂

Going to get DH to do a nighttime feed tonight and hopefully I can start to get excited for my event!
