Duvet or sleeping bag

I put a thread up a few weeks ago about whether or not to get my 16 almost 17 month old a bed and I’ve decided to get him a toddler bed as he’s a climber but I never thought about bedding. I’ve a duvet here and a sleeping bag for him but my concern with the duvet is he’s a wiggler and moves the whole way around his cot at night so I’m scared he’ll get stuck under the duvet but I’m concerned about the climbing in a sleeping bag which should I use for him it’s his first night in it tonight

Mine climbed out of cot at 14 months!

2 weeks later started walking up the stairs to bed and just flung a duvet on! It’s been totally fine. We use the duvet that’s all in one so no separate cover. Since it’s colder now also using bed socks and long sleeve vests in case the cover comes off. Sometimes it doesn’t but doesn’t make a difference to sleep!

At that age mine wouldn't have been able to reposition a duvet. We stayed with a sleeping bag until about 22 months.

Tuck the duvet under the mattress (best to turn it width ways to do this) and it will usually stay in position and hopefully prevent too much wiggling/ need for him to reposition it in the night

But best thing I did was ‘make’ the bed with my toddler so they saw me put the bedding on, I did this a couple of hours before bedtime. That way they’re excited for the new bedding and it’s not a surprise at bedtime itself

If the duvet doesn't work out try a footed sleeping bag like a slumbersac, or some fleecy pyjamas and socks just in case the duvet comes off.
