Help with rash - HF&M or Chicken Pox?

Hi,

My 20 month old had a really restless night last night, rolling around all over and pulling at his nappy. This morning I removed the nappy and going his bum cheeks covered in red spots.

As the day is progressing more spots are emerging, all down the back of his legs and couple on his right hand. Nothing on his feet or mouth yet.

Would you say this was HF&M? Or chicken pox? My husband is immunosuppressed so it’d be handy to know what we’re dealing with.

Sounds more like HFM. Chickenpox tends to present on the torso.

Looks like HFM more than chicken pox to me.

I’m not sure going by the spots but dc had spots on their bum when they had hand foot and mouth.

Doesn't look like chicken pox to me, mine have never had HF&M but I'd say that's more likely

It got a lot worse through the day yesterday and we ended up at out of hours GP this morning.

It’s a bad case of hand foot and mouth, bless him. Apparently it’s quite common for it to present on the bottom and genitals, even though it’s not mentioned much.
