My dd has just returned from school camp, after a week long stay. .

Dd was sharing a dorm with some of her friends. Last night I asked her about some bites on her leg (probably from the outdoor activities).

Dd said they were not as bad the bites one of her friends who was sharing the same dorm had. Her friend apparently told dd they ‘have bed bugs at home.’ I know a bit about bed bugs from a family member who used to work for the local housing association.

Dd said everyone’s bags, shoes and clothes were on pegs and on the floor in the dorm.

Bed bugs can apparently travel in bags and shoes from one place to another and like to crawl into dark places. That’s how they can come home in someone else’s luggage.

Other than the panic of wondering if dd’s friends might have brought some on the camp with her in her bags (and if we might brought them back home with us in dd’s bags), my main concern is if and how I tell the other parents whose dd’s where sharing the same dorm?

I have been trying to get hold of the place where the school stayed just to give them the heads up but it’s really difficult to know if I should mention anything to the other parents. It feels like a very sensitive thing to bring up. What would I say? Am I overreacting?

How can share this information (if I should say anything at all) without being awkward and potentially ruining the whole camp experience for others by mentioning something that may not in the end be a problem?

Sorry if I sound confused, I am! Just don’t know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm not sure I'd contact the other parents. Have any bugs shown up?

Not quite sure why you feel the need to get involved, especially if you haven't seen any anyway.
