How do you think my 3 have built up an immune system?! Lighthearted, to give you comfort, but more seriously as long as you give them a bit of soap and water most days then dummies can't be any more filthy than their fingers really. She'll be fine.

CathyorClaire · 13/10/2023 21:02

30 odd years ago I saw a dummy dropped in the gutter, picked up, sucked 'clean' in baby's DM's mouth and stuck back in.

DM survived and child is now a proud father.

Baby will be fine.

I know it's easier said that done but try not to panic. Your daughter will be fine. It's very unlikely for her to get sepsis because her dummy fell on the floor. Children/babies are exposed to so many germs all the time so just try and see it as her building up her immune system.

Anonymous09877 · 14/10/2023 08:43

It's coz it was the animal hospital floor honestly it was filthy in there I'm so anxious at one point I seen blood on the floor it stunk in there there was people from farms in ther big slavery' dogs lay down some was sprawledput on the floor coz they was so poorly all different kinds of sick animals I just wish id never gone my baby was prem so she should realistically only be 10 days old upon googling what can cause sepsis iv drove my self crazy like I'm just waiting for her to get sick now 😞 doesn't help I have OCD health anxiety disorder to thankyou for replying 🫶

If this is genuine you could do with counselling you really are being OTT

Anonymous09877 · 14/10/2023 09:26

This is genuine and don't need any sarky comments especially when iv spent months in a neonatal intensive care unit with extream premature baby's and sufferd a still born all us mum's no what germs can do to Small baby's!! AV u had premature baby's?? AV u lost a baby?? Properly not AV u got OCD health anxiety?? Probably not so don't you dare tell me I'm being OTT was unin the vets yesterday NO did you see the state of the floor NO!! Seriously piss of with you comment I asked for reasurence not some one telling me I need councilling

Would you perhaps consider talking to someone about your OCD health anxiety? I don't want to be presumptuous but it seems like this is more the issue right now, which is causing you to spiral. I know it's not nice to think that your daughter had a dirty dummy in her mouth but you need to try and hold on to the logic that she is going to be fine. Don't go on Google feeding your anxiety. Perhaps look at sharing your worries with you health visitor as they can help put support in place for your anxiety.

Goinoutalone · 14/10/2023 09:29

When did this happen @Anonymous09877? When did she give her the dummy?

Anonymous09877 · 14/10/2023 09:33

Loula7 iv had councilling in the past I'm on medication aswell for my OCD anxiety health disorder nothing helps I'm actually not normally like this it's just with it being a animal hospital the place Was filthy I was in a NICU unit for months with one of my twins and watched baby's get infections everyday just by parents not putting coats in lockers and bringing them into the unit or not washing there hands properly the slightest little things that made these baby's sick including mine my other prem baby had sepsis 2x onc caused by feeding tube being handled by a nurse that didn't wear gloves my baby is only 4lb she's tiny and had a dirty dummy put in her mouth I don't think I'm being over dramatic it's the bacteria that grows that causes baby's to get sick all I was after was abit of reasurence that's all 🫶 xx

You've had a horrific time OP, and you're not seeing clearly now, which is understandable. It's not likely your baby will get sick because of the dummy. If she does, it's highly likely it won't be serious. By the time of her immunisations on Monday you'll know if she's going to be sick because of the dummy - if she's fine all weekend and then gets a temp a few hours after her vaccines, then it's the vaccines not the dummy.

I do think it's worth a chat with your GP, for your own sake.

namechangeluckylady · 14/10/2023 09:39

If she's not sick now, she's absolutely fine. Sorry for your experience in the nicu.

Babies are resilient and this won't have done her any harm x

Anonymous09877 · 14/10/2023 09:42

My gp is aware of my OCD anxiety like I said I'm not normally like this I got worse when my baby died in 2022 and came home with one baby not 2 and that one baby was so poorly I nerly lost her on 3 occasions Iv just had another baby unfortunately she was premature again and I'm scared of her getting sick that's all

Anonymous09877 · 14/10/2023 09:44

In total I spent 4 months in NICU with my babys and it's taunting No1 comes out the NICU the same person as they was when they went in the NICU these baby's are my world and the though of them getting sick is so scary as iv felt with a very sick baby and lost one

Hi OP, it's understandable you feel the way you do, especially after everything you've been through and I hope my previous post didn't come across as judgemental. I was just trying to convey that your baby will be ok so to try and focus on that rather than your worries, as more than likely they are nothing more than that; a worry that will never come to fruition. If you need extra support then I'm sure your midwife/health visitor/GP will be able to help put mind at rest so reach out to them if you feel you need it. X

Anonymous09877 · 14/10/2023 15:14
