Getting concerned about DDs behaviour with dad

DD is 18 months old and still actively rejects her dad on a daily basis. She will so much as look at him in a different room first thing in the morning and immediately start whinging, getting upset and running to me to pick her up when he's not even paying her any attention as if he's about to take her away from me. She will have a complete meltdown and become utterly inconsolable if for example, he tried to hold her (stood right next to me) whilst I made some food, or if he's stood closer to her when she's in the highchair than I am.

They do spend time together and they seem okay then, but if I'm there she treats him like some monster coming to get her.

This has been ongoing her entire life and is just getting worse as she gets older rather than better. It's creating a really big crack in our relationship even though there's nothing we can do about it.

How is she with other people, i.e. neither you or her dad?

Mine have both been through phases of this - fine with dad when I'm not around but only wanting me otherwise. The only thing that helps is lots of alone time with dad.
