Nursery Settling in Struggles

My DS is 12 months old. He’s always been a challenging little thing - cried and cried as a baby and he’s still very sensitive but is loud and active and hilariously cheeky, just very full on. His saving grace was always that he was so social and loved meeting new people and doing new things

He started at a childminder in September and settled in brilliantly. No tears and didn’t want to leave when I picked him up - brilliant! After a difficult 12 months I was glad he was taking to this so well.

The childminder has unfortunately had to close so this week he has started at nursery. He loved the taster mornings but for the last two days he has had a morning nap and then just been upset for the rest of the day. He’s not eating there and is just inconsolable.

How long did other peoples DC take to settle into nursery? It’s breaking my heart picking him up and seeing his red, tearful little face. Is there anything I can do to ease this for him?

thanks x

Is he under the weather? If he doesnt usually have a morning nap and has just needed one, i would be wondering about that.

I do think he’s teething and has been quite clingy lately
he does usually have a morning nap, they’ve been putting him down at 10/10:30, he usually sleeps around 9/9:30 so maybe he’s overtired and it’s impacting the rest of the day

See if they can put him down for a nap at his more normal time, its very tricky for little ones that have a routine when it gets disrupted, it has a knock on effect on the whole of the rest of the day
