2 year old with red spots around mouth

Hi,

My little boy has always suffered with different kids of spotty rashes on his face - the doctors have always shrugged them off putting it down to newborn rashes , then teething rashes and I've nearly actually gotten an answer. I'm going to attach a photo to see if anybody else's little one has had anything similar and answers to what it could....

Thanks

I can't help but my 9 month old has the same thing. Docs say milk spots, HV says teething rash maybe.

HV advised stopping pouches of food. I did and they haven't gone. I may try diet elimination

Hoping someone else can come along and answer for us!

My dd is 1 and has very something similar but it stretches right to her eyes so teething rash seems unlikely, we’re fairly sure it’s a reaction to various foods. We’re keeping a good diary and have a docs appointment in a few weeks …..

A nursery near me has recently put out a warning about hand foot and mouth disease. Maybe ask local mums if they’ve noticed any spots on their kids.

Not got the answer but we're going through the exact same thing with ds 14 months!
He has cow's milk allergy and it's common with little ones with cow's milk allergy to be allergic to soya, so I assumed it was that causing it, but we've cut all soya out (and obviously dairy) and legumes (as the protein structure can be similar) and no improvement. So I'm not convinced it's a food allergy but obviously not sure.
It popped up seemingly over night last week and spreads up to under his eyes and looks exactly like your picture, but it doesn't seem to be bothering him. It's also not as red but it is definitely still there and visible.
His older brother (school age) has been poorly with a cough/cold etc so I figured it might be a viral rash?
I've got a doctors appointment in a few days for him but I'm not convinced they will have any answers.

My LO's goes up to her eyes too. I got E45 cream to try.

It's not hand, foot and mouth as no other symptoms (HV checked yesterday).

It's not hand , foot and mouth here either. He's had it on and off since he's been born, he's still breastfed so I didn't know if it was a contact rash but it gets too sore and red for it to be that. My gut feeling tells me it's related to certain foods he eats! It's always the worst after he's eaten and calms a little after an hour or so always remains though!!

Contact allergy? With him still being breast fed could it be something you’re wearing, perfume, skin cream? Is it just on one side with you saying it goes up to his eye, is it one eye or both?

GingerLiberalFeminist · 10/10/2023 20:55

I don't breast feed and it goes up to both eyes erratically. I'm erring towards food allergy too.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 12/10/2023 18:16

Since you posted, I started applying E45 cream to her face three+ times a day. The spots have almost gone.

Running not walking to buy e45 cream 😱

My DS always got this after eating strawberries & tomatoes, he eventually grew out of it.
