Lactose intolerance and constipation in toddler

Just wanted to see if anyone is experiencing the same as us as we're a bit at our wits' end with constipation in DD. She is 18mo and has struggled with constipation since weaning. She's on long term laxatives, has a confirmed anatomical issue which is contributing to the constipation and has been on and off dairy according to doctors advice. It's confirmed not CMPA so some are reluctant to advise taking it out completely but I'm still flummoxed as to whether it's affecting the constipation. We have noticed over the last few days the poos have been more frequent and smaller, with more straining. Has anyone found dairy to have this effect and seen an improvement when removing it?

Constipation can be a symptom of none ige cmpa. Can I ask how cmpa was ruled out?
