Baby bed

My son is 16 months but batters and bangs himself off the cot every night, it also can’t be lowered anymore than it is and he can get himself out of it so I don’t trust him in it when he wakes up

what bed could I put him in next, I was looking at floor beds and toddler beds with rails but what did people find more useful

We went straight from a cot to a normal bed at around 18- 20 months. To begin with I put pillows round the edges and the old cot mattress on the floor next to it for a soft landing if necessary, but they got used to it very quickly.

That’s my concern he’s clumsy as it is and has no sense for staying in a bed he’s not used to it, the ones I looked at have rails around the majority of it but a gap for them to get it and out and knowing him he’ll come out the one bit that’s open during the night

Is 16 months too young should I hold off a bit or just bite the bullet

Travel cot? Base on the floor with high mesh sides?

Mine went straight from Moses basket/my bed to futon mattress on the floor. You have to make sure the room is safe, but apart from that I think it's the perfect solution
