Anyone else’s child got this nasty cough?

Took DD to GP the other day for her coughing and they said it’s viral. It seems to be getting worst and sounds like a wet/ barking sound. It’s also getting more and more persistent through the day, I think she may need antibiotics? She doesn’t have a temp, just runny nose etc. had this for nearly 2 weeks now, Anyone else? Is it going about?

Both my kids have had a horrid cough for probably 2-3 weeks now, this week I've picked it up, feels like I've got razor blades in my throat, absolutely horrible. Like yours no fever just a runny nose and cough. Lots of the kids at school are coughing as well. If your DD continues getting worse I'd say take her back to the GP

Definitely something going around atm. I've had the awful sounding cough (only just recovered), and now my kids have it. I also had no temp or runny nose. I actually felt otherwise fine other than needing to cough and sounding like my lungs were trying to escape through my mouth in the process. Can't remember how long it lasted, but it was easily the better part of a month.

Naturally, I will monitor my kids. While I didn't feel I needed medical input at any point, there's no guarantee that they won't.

@Mumoftwotoddlers @Dyra thankfully we’re not the only ones then. Feel so sorry for DD, I also hope your LO’s get well soon as well as yourselves! I’ve also caught it and I feel rotten. I’m also 33 weeks pregnant which doesn’t help! The sweat is pouring off me. Still no temp though. I’ll definitely keep an eye on her for now as it sounds like it’s going about

I've just created a thread about my DD cough.
Hers started with a temp last Tues, GP on Thursday said it was viral.
I had to call out if hours on Sunday night, they checked her over & said she had croup so gave ger steroids, I then had her back at out of hours tonight (monday) who are saying it's definitely not croup but could be a atypical infection. We got antibiotics.
I feel we're being fobbed off, I've had to sit with the back door open to help ease her cough. We're both shattered.
