Can anyone tell me if the cow and gate comfort milk will help my little one.
He is 2 weeks old and is only pooing every 3/4 days, trumping like crazy at times with afew tears so must be uncomfortable. i am giving extra water to help but it isnt doing much. when he does go, poo is soft and he isnt straining or finding it difficult to go. when he feeds he creates lots of bubbles in his bottle even though i make sure i keep teat full. he winds near enough straight away but sometimes brings back milk. do you think the comfort milk will help him??

thanks

The comfort milk won't hurt your ds, but I'm not sure if there's anything the matter with him...

You've said that when he poos, it's soft and he doesn't strain, which suggests there's no problem like constipation etc.

If he winds quite quickly after feeding, that's good too. As for babies bringing back milk, that's totally normal so nothing to worry about.

Personally, I would keep him on the milk you're giving him, but if you're still worried, speak to your GP before making any decisions.

Hope this helps

Also forgot to say that he doesn't need any extra water at this age - the milk should be enough.

Don't forget, he's not used to eating in the outside world - so a few tears and trumps and burps are to be expected!!

mw said the water would help him poo, doesnt seem to be making any difference though, still going 3/4 days which seems along time to me. He seems happy enough, feeding very frequently, sometime wanting another bottle 30 mins after having one. just though the comfort would help him poo and settle his tummy as he crys when trumping, its so hard to know whats the best for them when they cant tell you. thanks for your help

Perhaps he has colic? My ds had it from 3 wks till 12 approx. It was horrible for him, and seemed to me like he had really bad trapped wind, poor soul. There are lots of remedies, some work better than others! Colief worked for us. It has the enzyme in in that breaks down the milk so makes it easie rto digeest. it is expensive, but i'd have sol dmy soul! Ask the pharmacist. hth!

i changed my 8 week old sons milk to comfort 3 days ago as he was irritable and woulnt settle and only pood every 2 days but was not constipated and h is now much better i can now put him dowm and he doesnt scream the place down and he is much happier. i use colief as well. i would definately try it.

The comfort milk has the same effect as using colief. You may find that his poos change colour when you switch him to this milk but that is normal. Allow 24 - 48 hours for the comfort milk to have any effect. Hope everything settles soon.

same problem, changed to comfort milk and instant effect. DS was crying when he farted (sorry if TMI) but the day after i switched he was so much happier.

Bonues of sleeping longer too (for a little while).

Is your DC on SMA by any chance?

be warned though - the poos are horrific!!!!
