Hi all, looking for some help and advice or people who have found themselves in a similar situation.
my little boy started school this time and did 2 weeks of going in great, no tears, no looking back etc. I thought brilliant we’ve cracked in! Then he’s started dreading going through the door, he gets there no problem and gets to the door and has to be peeled off me kicking and screaming to go in. By the time I’ve got round the corner and peeped through the window he’s settled down. He hated the after school club and the teacher said he was very anxious in class until he knew it wasn’t an after school club day. So I have stopped the after school club thinking I want to get him settled in school and we can start that again next term. He still is upset about going in. They sent him home with the school bear on Friday in the hope it gave him a job to do of bringing him back into school as he loves having a job to do. However this morning it took 3 of us to peel him off me and get him in the classroom. He’s a very tall 4 year old so takes some tackling when he’s resisting like he is. I’m really at a loss as to what else to try? Could it be me he doesn’t want to leave? I try and be really positive about school all the time but he’s just having none of it. Don’t want him to end up dreading school or being the child the staff dread going! Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks 😊
