My 15mo boy has always been a bad sleeper but prior to starting nursery 2 months ago, was down to 2 wakes per night for feeding back to sleep.
Since nursery, he's been constantly poorly and/or nursery have messed with his routine (understandbly impossible to stick to it with lots of kids to look after!), which has led to him being constantly overtired and lots of awful unsettled nights. Even when he's not poorly, he's waking every hour-90 minuntes most nights. As I'm now back at work, I feel broken on such bad sleep.
We previously sleep trained using CC for bedtime but not for night wakes. Whilst it did work, it was obviously awful and I don't really want to jump straight to CC for night wakes so I'm thinking of trying Jay Gordon's night weaning. However, I'm not sure he'll be easily comforted with a cuddle - he normally thrashes or pushes off me or DH whenever we've tried it.
My questions are:
- Does it just feel like sleep training?
- Did it work? Or did they still wake just as much? (I'm worried he'll wake just as much but I'll lose boobie magic as a tool)
- Would you consider it an awful time to do it when he's ill from nursery every other week?
(He's still on 2 naps at the moment - I'm not sure he can handle 1 nap due to such poor night sleep!)
Any other advice or personal experience welcome!
