Group B Strep

Didn't know where to post. A family member has just said they have group B Strep and are now panicking it has been passed onto my 5 week old. Is this possible?

I doubt it very much, if you're concerned your baby has any symptoms ring out if hours Dr but otherwise I wouldn't panic, as far as I know babies catch it during birth through the birth canal?

No symptoms and I'm not worried, family member is so I suggested I'd ask on here for their peace of mind

Yeah I'm sure it's caught from contact with the vaginal fluid ??

i echo all of the above OP. I was diagnosed with blood Strep B, no symptoms. Had c section - baby is fine 👍👌
