5 week old congested / blocked nose

My 5 week old has caught the cold that I have. He’s been coughing a bit and sneezing lots, and has a blocked nose. Last night the blocked nose was so bad it was waking him up and so I’ve been up with him since 2.30am propping him up on my legs so he can sleep (but I haven’t!).

I’ve tried the saline spray which I think helps temporarily. Have a cold mist humidifier going in the bedroom and have propped his snuzpod up a bit which didn’t seem to help.

i have ordered snufflebabe saline drops and vapour but is there anything else I can do to help him? Feel so bad he’s uncomfortable but also could do with getting some sleep tonight!

also is this something you’d take you’re to the GP for? I’m going to call to see if they have an appointment but doubt it today so not sure how much to push?

My DD had the same at roughly the same age ... I spoke to a Dr over the phone and was advised to get a bowl of boiling hot water & put a small amount of Vicks in to create a vapour.
(Do not put too much in!)
Stand holding the baby upright in your arms with the bowl on the floor close to your feet.
It'll take a while - and a few bowls; and it will help gently clear the blocked nose; the steam will help too.

Don't put baby directly next to the bowl, especially if the vapour is strong.
