Should i change my 12 month olds naps

My ds’ is usually down by 7pm but recently he’s just not been settling and seems like he’s full of energy till about 8-8:30. He has 2 naps, the first is around 9:45-11 and the second is about 14:30-16:00. I don’t know whether to cut his naps shorter or to just try and cut out a whole nap? Any advice would be appreciated :)

The first one is too long and the second one is too late.

Try 9:30-10am in the morning and 12:30pm-2:30/3pm in the afternoon.

What time is he up? Wake windows (i.e. the number of hours he needs to be up for!) are 4-5 hours at that age. So I'd work backwards - if you want him asleep for 7pm he needs to wake up between 2 and 3pm. So he probably wants to be going to bed around 12-1pm. Then he'd want his first nap around 8.30/9am assuming he's been up for a while. And I'd keep the first nap to 30 mins otherwise it knocks the second nap out if you get me!

We wake him up at 7 so when should he have his first nap?

My 11mo goes to bed at 8/8:30 and I had to recently make all the naps shorter so they would finish by 4pm so he was tired enough for bedtime so I would recommend also pushing back the 2nd nap so it ends by 3pm and shortening the first.

If I was to suggest a schedule I'd say

Wake 7am
Nap 9:30 to 10:30
Nap 1:30 to 3pm

A lot of people give 30mins in the morning and 2 hours in afternoon but my DS loves his morning nap so 30mins seemed too short to me.

If he wakes at 7 and you can get him down for 9.45 I'd do half an hour/45 mins then. Then a 1.5 hour nap at 1.30 and up at 3pm. It's not quite enough awake time but he might move to one nap soon so I wouldn't stress it if he's happy to go down at 9.45 and 1.30.
