Should I buy her a doll?

Hi all
my daughter is 15 months old. She is my 4th child - older 3 are boys.

it’s coming up to Xmas (sorry!) and I’m musing about gifts for her. What’s everyone’s thoughts on baby dolls?? Would she be interested in a baby doll by Xmas? Is it a good thing to buy for that age or am I being stereotypical in my thinking as she is a girl?? My youngest son did have a doll and a pushchair when he was little but I bought it as he enjoyed pushing the pushchair around - he never really bothered with the doll. We still have it and she also has fun pushing the pushchair but so far not really interested in the doll.

Any other suggestions for Xmas pressies for 19month old girl?

thanka!

Mine loved their dolls and pushchairs at that age, just a light little buggy one is perfect (ideally that folds up so you can carry easily when they inevitably abandon it in the park, mine fitted under the real pushchair

My dd would have enjoyed a doll at that age. You could try her with toys that you currently have (say a cuddly) and see how she responds to a game of putting the toy to bed (got a spare box and "blankets"? )

If you've already got a doll that she isn't interested in, I wouldn't buy another one!

If she's got three older brothers you've probably already got everything 😂, bit how about:

Duplo
Puzzles
Toy kitchen
Happyland stuff/small world
Pens and paper/stickers

Doesn't sound like dolls are interesting her.

My daughter's 19 months old and we just bought her a little ride on thing and she loves it. Also a little mini rocking horse. She also loves dolls though and cuddles them and gives them a bottle and pats their back. It's so sweet

My 16 month old loves her baby doll. I have even brought down her old bassinet and she puts her doll to bed in it.

i got her a lovely pomea one. Nice and soft with cute accessories and clothes. I bought her a toy baby sling to put away for a future birthday

Our twin girls adore dolls think they were just a year when they got there first and there now 18months and love pushing the little pram, putting them to bed and trying to dress them

Ours, girl and boy, both loved their “babies” and pushchairs at that age.

It seems a bit of a daft idea if you've already got one and she doesn't play with it. I'd get her something else, what other things of her brother's does she like playing with?

villamariavintrapp · 24/09/2023 12:16

Nah, I'd get her something based on what she likes and is interested in.

Thanks for the messages and ideas. Although we have a doll already it’s just in the playroom alongside all the other toys and she hasn’t noticed it / chosen to play with it over other things. I thought she might be too young to understand / do roll play with it but perhaps I’ll have a little game with her and see how she responds. If she isn’t interested then fair enough 😊
