DS is just over two and currently has a mild cold - a bit of a stuffy nose and had a mild temp the first couple of days. He’s never slept well and still wakes anywhere between 1-3 times a night, and for this reason he has a floor bed so that I can lay down with him.
Whenever he is ill, even if just something mild, his sleep is atrocious. I’m three days into barely sleeping.
Since he’s had his cold, he’s been waking every hour screaming. This will go on anywhere from 10-40 mins and absolutely nothing I do helps. On his first wake up last night he was crying pretty much nonstop for 40 mins. I went into him quickly, lay down next to him and verbally/physics tried to comfort him. After 5 mins of that not working I sat him up on my lap for a cuddle, then stood up and rocked him, tried singing, lights on, lights off, looking at books, a different room, etc, nothing helps! Is it just me, or is this a very extreme reaction to a mild cold? In the day he’s basically fine, just a bit snuffly and sneezing.
He’s not in nursery yet but we are looking at starting him soon, and I’m worried I’ll basically never sleep if he’s regularly picking up colds etc at nursery 😖
just wondering if this is normal I suppose?!
