Sucking fingers?!

My son is 10 weeks old on Friday and has had a dummy, however the past week or so he’s found his fingers SOOO much better than the dummy. He keeps sucking his fingers and sometimes manages to get most of his hand in his mouth and results in him being sick 🤦🏽‍♀️

we try to keep on top of making sure he either has his dummy or is keeping his hands away from his mouth if he’s otherwise content but sometimes we aren’t able to be constantly watching like if we’re driving for example.

Has anyone else had the same thing and how the hell do I stop him chewing his hands and making himself puke 😭

You don’t, he’ll learn it soon enough.

As above. Mine stopped ramming his hands in around 4 months when he found other objects to put in 😂

This is actually a normal developmental stage, he has discovered that he has hands and he can control them. It’s something HVs look out for as a part of normal development. So, Totally normal for them to be in his mouth constantly, plus even though teething doesn’t usually start until later, teeth move around under the gums which can make them uncomfortable so they chew their hands for comfort. I’ve Seen a few babies who’s first tooth came in at 12 weeks, my son being one of them 😂

My little one did this from 2.5 months and like yours he did have a dummy. It's definitely a mixture of teething and look I've got hands. Believe me, when they're a bit older absolutely everything will be going in the mouth, you'll wish it was just the hands🤣

Thank you guys! He’s been just sucking his fingers for a few weeks now. The main thing I’m worried about is how far back he keeps putting his hands in and making himself sick, that’s the most recent part he’s added to his finger sucking routine 😂 I just wasn’t sure if that part was entirely normal, it just seems like he doesn’t learn that fingers down throat = sick 😂
