Day 1 potty training got progressively worse

Today has been day 1 of potty training my 2.10 year old DS. We've had 2 small wees on the potty and one big wee on the potty early on. Hurray! But the rest of the day have been little wees all over the house (no poo yet). He doesn't want to wear pants (fine) so has been naked from the waist down. I've gone through so many towels my washer and dryer have taken a beating! He has done little wees on me sat on my lap as I couldn't get him on to the potty even though i knew he needed a wee. He did a big wee on the sofa and said 'I didn't mean to Mummy!'. Bless him! But the majority of the day has been my coaxing/encouraging him to sit on the potty. He's not keen to go! He's got bubbles to blow on the potty and books to read. My DH has just got home so I'm just hiding upstairs feeling worn out! Is this what Day 1 is like? Is he not ready? Have I missed the window? I'm just so unsure.

It’s hard, the worst bit of parenting for me. I’d really recommend reading oh crap. I felt I messed it up with my second so I read oh crap and followed that method with my third when he turned 2. It won’t all happen as seamlessly or quickly as the book said it might but it gave a useful approach and language to use. And it’s an easy and funny read too. Good luck.
