Pram suit alternative? Age 2-3

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 20/09/2023 12:10

Hi,

I'm looking for something like a pram suit in a size 2-3 (or bigger for future years). Is there anything available like a pram suit but for toddlers?

I'm sure a product exists, just not sure what it would be called or where I'd get one (UK)

thanks

I guess something like a puddle suit- but more padded like a coat is what I'm looking for?

ski suit? Or just the ski overall type bottoms (like padded trousers with a bib and/or straps to hold them up) plus a normal coat.

Try decathlon or second hand for more reasonable prices.

My daughter 2.5 and we have a puddle suit with a fleece inner that you can remove, it's good for walking the dog.

Aren't ages 2-3 a bit old for pramsuits though? From a practical POV they're running around getting hot and muddy, not like a baby who is stationary in a pram/pushchair. Tbf I've never used one so not sure.

Ski salopettes and coat or fleece lined rain trousers and coat. I like Kuling

YourNameGoesHere · 20/09/2023 12:23

A fleece lined puddle suit might work but honestly it would make more sense to use a coat and cover their legs with a blanket if they were cold at that age.

Fleur405 · 20/09/2023 12:25

These jojo fleece suits are pretty good - warm but not too bulky. You see loads on vinted.

I second the Jo Jo ones, they're really warm!

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 20/09/2023 12:29

Thanks everyone. A pram suit isn't what I was wanting, just trying to describe what I was looking for.

She'll only be turning 2 this winter (but she's tall) - we do a lot of dog walking and days out so needed a coat that ideally had some padding all over (she seems to feel the cold).

She won't sit happily with a blanket and her legs are almost too long for her pram muff.

I've got some good options above to look at. Thank you.

Spotty Otter or Muddy Puddles have some good options.

Farm children here

Snow suit is what you need.

Caspianberg · 20/09/2023 13:01

We live in alps. I don’t like snow suits as limits to only wearing when freezing. Separates are much better (and compulsory at our nursery). Sometimes they can wear just the bottoms with fleece top if it’s a sunny day, and other times Ds wears just coat and no bottoms if warms also. Then both together as needed.

JurassicShay · 20/09/2023 13:05

Zara do separates, fleece lined waterproof dungarees & jacket.

We used to buy the Lidl ones, which were absolutely brilliant - would highly recommend. I'm not a fan of bulky padded clothing for kids - mine used to get really frustrated in it.

I've just remembered that the rubberised dungarees we used to use (not fleece lined) came from a brand called Playshoes - there were great for going over the top of leggings/normal trousers.

fairislecable · 20/09/2023 13:10

Separates are much more useful I particularly like Didriksons, although they are expensive you will usually get 2 years wear out of them.

I would agree with this from when we lived in
Chicago, and it applies even more in the UK when it’s never actually that properly cold so unless you live in the Scottish highlands I’d be seriously concerned about overheating if you put a British kid in a snowsuit designed for temps of like -10!

The north face down baby coats are great because the sleeves turn over to make insulated mittens so no issue with them throwing them off. These are my winter go-to. Then usually paired with cheap waterproof trousers off Amazon, worn with fleece lined leggings/joggers underneath, or for very cold weather the fleece lined waterproof trousers from JoJo are good and only about £25.

My kids have Frugi snuggle suits. The material of a thick hoofie

go under waterproofs of raining

Cornishmumofone · 20/09/2023 13:14

IELM soft shell puddle suits are great: ielm.co.uk/baby-kids-waterproof-overalls

carddino · 20/09/2023 13:15

@TropicalTrama good point, yes Scottish highlands so perhaps that would explain snow suit love here

ChuckMater · 20/09/2023 13:52

Fleece-lined Puddle suit or a snow suit

fartfacenotfatface · 20/09/2023 15:57

For a child approaching potty training age, I'd go for separates - fleecy salopettes / waterproof dungarees and a warm coat. Much easier for 'wild wees' as they can stay warm on the top half!
Lidl actually do some amazing ones in the middle bit from time to time, super cheap are actually waterproof and last really well.

ColleenDonaghy · 20/09/2023 16:00

We've had the Jojo one and the Muddy Puddles one with the removable fleece lining, both excellent.

I got a caretec fleece lined waterproof set from Amazon recently for my toddler. It's really cozy!
