THREADWORMS!!!

My daughter has the dreaded... threadworms. It makes me feel so icky! Monday night, I gave her a one-off dose of Ovex suspension. The following morning, I hot washed every item of clothing, bedding, towels, throws, cushions, teddies etc. I even disinfected all her toys, the kitchen and bathrooms. I've made her sleep in knickers and showered her in the morning and before bed. However.. last night (tue night), I checked her bum, and there were sooo many worms crawling out still!! is that normal after 24 hours??? The pharmacist said they should be dead by now, but the instruction leaflet said it can take a few days. I am so worried and stressed.

It takes a few days to work as it starves them to death rather than chemically killing them.

Thanks so much for your reassurance! I panicked so much last night. I'll keep up with the knickers at bed time, and washing in the morning xx

I’m new on here. Just got threadworms again as saw them last night, my poor son. Taken ovex all of us and hopefully it goes quick. Cleaning is the most annoying part. Any advice welcome on when do I stop cleaning🤣🙃😞

I tend to wash bums first thing in the morning/change their pants and wash beddings, clothes and pjs etc every day for the first three days. And more than average obsessive hand washing, especially before any snack or food, for a while. Also check nails are trim and clean. There was another thread (no pun intended) on here with people saying just do Ovex and forget about it. But we seem to need to do more than that. I have three kids and the first two never had it but my youngest seems v prone to it.

My daughter has had them for over a weem
now. There are so many in her poo still. Sometimes she will do a morning poo and they seem dead but in the evening they are back and wriggling around. I don’t know how much more washing I can take. It’s getting so stressful and the dr just says wait and they will go. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
