Potty training troubles at nursery

We recently potty trained our 2.6 month old DS and he has done incredibly well so far, since we started 2 weeks ago he has only had one accident at home, with lots of wees in the potty. He’s also happily stopped playing to say he needs a wee at soft play, playgroup, the park, friends houses etc. so is used to weeing in different environments and is himself initiating the need to go. If I’m around he prefers me to take him to the bathroom but if I’m not there or busy he’ll happily go with his dad.

However, DS goes to nursery twice a week and has not had a single wee on the potty there, he comes home with bags of wet clothes and soaked shoes every time. When I discuss it with him he says he doesn’t like the nursery toilets as people can see him wee.

I’ve spoken to the nursery staff each day and made lots of suggestions, but they say they can’t close the cubicle door because of safeguarding. I’m worried because it can’t be good for him to hold his wee until he wets himself and I’m worried that the longer this goes on the more difficult it’ll be to change behaviour and it’ll become ‘normal’ to just hold and then wet at nursery.

Has anyone else experienced this and can offer any tips please?
