What do your primary age kids do after school?

It seems back to school has fried my brain and I’ve no memory of what the kids used do after school…on days when there’s no clubs, before dinner & bed. Other than screens, please share your ideas. Ages 4, 8, 11. Ta!

I see lots of people mention clubs. My previous reply about what they do at home. I think if they are bored and you can afford it, sign them up for clubs. 12 yo plays two instruments and we expect her to do 20min a day each. That's 40min gone. She has guides, sewing club, music lesson and orchestra. 9yo also learns multiple instruments and has orchestra. She does sports three days after school too. That keeps them busy enough. So after school and clubs, they just do homework and chill at home.

Depends on the Weather but there's usually an afterschool club (Scouts, Swimming etc..) but on the days there isn't, we may go to be Park for an hour, they play in the garden or do some drawing, homework, reading, playing.. Tv goes on around 5 then it's bath / bed routine from 5:30 to 6!

Sometimes they bring friends home from school. If not then my son will usually game online with friends and my daughter will play barbies or craft.

None are in any clubs. We have tried every single one and they aren't interested so I don't force them.

I don't really bother about the whole screen time thing tbh. It's 2023 and a different world. If I didn't allow my son on screens he wouldn't have any friends. Nor would he be excellent at coding and able to make his own games aged 11.
