Yes I had a 14 month gap and then the next was a 23 month gap and the eldest is still in nappies at night!!

Never found it an issue just did a nappy wash every evening to keep on top of the drying and got a roomy change bag.

I've got one due in April, DD2 is 20 monhts and DD3 is 3 and 3 months (still in nappies at night). Seriously, it is fine. It is all about routine. You will find that wiht everything if htis is your second - food, sleep, baths, nappies - the secret all lies in juggling into some kind of routine that works.

I have a really big nappy bucket and wash when it is full ( I dry pail) - these days twice a week. And the nappy bag just needs to be better thought out - less crap in there and more versatile items that could go on either. I use terries and muslins so really versatile - try them, they are great once you crack it!

Oooh, and congrats! How exciting

Yep, dd is 21 months and ds 12 weeks. Both in cloth full time. I just wash every 2-3 days and don't find it any hassle although I do have nappies drying all over the house!
Congratulations!

I have to say my eldest was in super dooper boosted nappies so it was more like washing for 3!!!! Perhaps I did wash every other day I can't remember anymore!

BigBadMouse · 04/03/2008 16:41

Congratualtions!!

Yes had two in cloth for a year, now have one in cloth, but will have 2 in cloth again in a few months. Also, eldest still in night nappies at the moment so maybe 3 in cloth at night!

To save money (and for ease of drying) used newborn terries for DC2 for the first couple of months - had about 20 of these but that meant I always had enough, and they are used as stuffings for pocket nappies now. Had a few small shaped nappes for out and about as I found them more absorbant and quicker to change when out. Am looking forward to using small terries again on the new baby!

I am sure that loads of people successfully have 2 in cloth at once.

FourPlusOne · 04/03/2008 16:46

Yes, agree on the changing bag thing - just used to have a few onesize nappies in the bag instead of 2 or 3 sized nappies for each child. DC2 grew quite quickly though, and both were in size 2s after about 4/5 months!

Both mine are daytime clothies, and night time disposibles. No hope of getting rid of nappies for some time yet I fear. It is quite manageable.

Nemoandthefishes · 04/03/2008 21:21

I did have but dd1[2.2yrs] been out of nappies for a couple of months now.
It was fine..if you want to buy some spares

jennster · 04/03/2008 21:24

Yup 7 and 25 months here. Actually both in the same size wrap now. Dd is tiny and ds is enormous. Just have to wash them more frequently.

oliviaelanasmum · 04/03/2008 21:25

NEMO as soon as ive had my scan and made sure there is only one i will definately be looking for used nappies

give me a shout then..lol

Two here as well. Ds is 22 months and dd 7 months.

I found that putting the washer on every night to rince after tea, then put any whites or light colours in with the main wash works. Stops tea time food stains as well as they dont have tome to dry in.

Washersaurus · 05/03/2008 20:52

I go for the alternative approach...

I have 2 in cloth (2.7yo and 7mo) I have 3 drypail buckets and wash when they are full (usually every 2/3 days). I usually wash overnight as it is a longer cycle than I use for my other washing.

I don't have a problem with any stains on nappies usually.

I recommend Onesize nappies for the change bag aswell.

pinkyminky · 05/03/2008 21:05

Hi yes I had two in cloth and i'm pregnant again so could well have two in cloth again.
I think we washed nappies every other day. Have lots of nappies and two big buckets is my advice (I don't soak either). I have a variety of nappies but mainly totsbots and the totsbots size2 with a nipper will fit most any baby. I did have some ellas house hemp nappies when dd was tiny, they were fab and very compact.

littlepiggie · 05/03/2008 21:45

If you take to booster out of tots s2 they will work as a btp, than the booster can just be addad in loose when needed.
