night time training - weeing on waking.... any ideas?

Ds (just 4) asked to stop having night time nappies about 2.5 weeks ago. He'd never had a dry night, but we gave it a go, and for the first week he did pretty well (about as many dry nights as wet ones)

But since then, he's wet every morning. He seems to wee as he wakes up/isn't 'catching himself' fast enough, although sometimes manages to stop half way through & finish on the toilet (which is on a different floor, rather annoyingly)

Any ideas for sorting this out? I'm keeping pampers bed mats in business!

Had same problem.

I get my DS (also 4) up for a toilet trip when I go to bed and this solved it as he was not so desperate in the morning.

Down side is going to be breaking this habit but it beats washing bedding every other night.

Good luck

Thanks Catzy - had been trying to avoid 'lifting' him, but maybe it's the only option...

He asked for a nappy tonight (actually lay on the floor & sobbed for one ) - so will maybe try that tommorrow...

can he use a potty instead of having to go to different floor to toilet?
agree with idea of 'lifting' - taking him to toilet while half asleep when you go up to bed
I had a thread on this recently and many posters said it had helped their children
just vary the time at which you do it slightly, or their bodies get used to it and will automatically release urine at this time, even if you haven't come up to bed yet!

here was the recent thread - we decided to muddle on without lifting, but had we had 50 / 50 wet / dry nights we would have gone for it

oh, F&Z, that looks really useful - off to digest properly.
