Worries about having a second child with a big age gap

Hi. I’m 5 months pregnant with my second child. My first child is 6 years old. Would anyone be willing to share their experience of the early years with a baby and an older child?

I am worried about starting all over again and wonder whether I’ll be able to adapt to life with two. I know what parenting is like now and I’m not as excited about the baby’s arrival as I was the first time around. Do you think these feelings could be common?

Any advice or wisdom appreciated.

I am interested in responses here. I'm pregnant with my second - I will have a 14 year age gap! (not by choice).

I have a six year age gap between mine. The early stage tends to work quite well as the oldest is out at school all day and you can concentrate on the baby. Later is a little more tricky as they are at different stages and into different things but I suspect this could be the case with a smaller age gap too. We are lucky that the eldest is quite protective and can be relied on to look out for her sister in certain situations. I don't think there is an ideal age gap, they all come with positives and negatives.
