If someone (MIL) takes your child out for the day, is it reasonable to expect them to let you know approx when they will be home? She has taken 3.5 DD out and hasn't been in contact at all to say when they should be home. Maybe I'm being unreasonable

I would just message and ask roughly what time they’ll be home.

YABU. You clearly belive your child is safe or you wouldn't have let MIL take her out.

Just text and ask for a rough idea what time they'll be back. Doesn't need to be a drama.

Just ask her...

Yes i overreacted due to previous issues between myself and MIL and just generally stressed out. Thanks for responses.

when they were headed out the door didn't you say "have a lovely time - what time will you be back?" If you didn't say that, what did you say?

saraclara · 17/09/2023 16:41

I can't conceive of sending my kids out, in any combination, or with any other adult (including my DH) without saying "when do you think you'll be home?"

That's on you, not her.

To be honest it didn't actually cross my mind to ask when they would be home. I suppose ive learned from this now and will do so in future. I just thought she would update me whilst out and say when they would be home. I ended up asking in the end but I probably need to clarify beforehand
