Do big babies turn into big adults?

Just curious about this!

My daughter is 12 weeks and I’d imagine either 99th centile or off the charts for her height and weight!

She weighs 14lbs 5oz and looks huge compared to friends babies that are her age!

Does this necessarily correlate with how tall she will be as an adult?

I am 5ft 6 and slim, was tiny until I hit puberty and DH is 5ft 11 and also slim but we don’t know how big we were as babies!

I was a 10-pounder and am now a very average-sized adult.

I thought it was the opposite, at least as far as weight is concerned. So low birth rate is associated with increased rates of overweight/obesity later on.

Dc1: big baby (90+ centile) now tall and skinny as a young adult
dc2: same again, now skinny but nowhere near as tall as dc1.

fwiw dc2 had some issues as a toddler and stopped growing as much as you’d expect and dropped under the 25th centile (from the 90+ centile).
Whilst he then started to grow ‘normally again’ after about 18 months, I don’t think his growth fully recovered.

Dc2: 9lb8, was off the charts within a week or two and weighed 14lb at 4 weeks. We were monitored closely (think they secretly thought we were feeding him McDonalds) but he's now a tall, average build 16 yo.
Dc3 was 10.5lbs at over a week early , maintained a steady growth and is now a below average height, slight 10yo! She's much smaller than her older sister was at that age and she weighed only 7lbs
Dh is very tall but I'm average build and height, if anything slightly below average height.

Mine didn't! My 9.9 dd is about 5'7 and average weight. My 10.6 ds is 5'11 and on the thin side.

My DS wasn't quite that big but was still pretty big at birth both height and weight. He's now almost 2 and his growth has massively stalled, he's been around 50th centile for weight since about 6 months old or so and is now only around the 8th centile for height! He's been referred to paediatrics for assessment because of the height.

I myself was also a big baby at birth, similar size to DS. I've always been slim and as an adult I'm just a very average height for a woman, about 5'5.

Hang on, looking at the link I shared, if your baby is 12 weeks old and 14lbs 5 oz she’s right at the bottom of the centiles. Is there a typo?

Dc 1 was 7lb, 7, and is 6ft, 3

Dc 2 was 9st and is 6ft 5.
