6 year old party ideas

My dd is about to turn 6. She has asked for a pamper party - surely some YouTube abomination but that’s what she wants. She’s quite a girly girl, loves hair accessories, glitter etc and would get her hands on my make up if I let her. But she also has lots of friends who are boys and enjoys lots of different sports and activities.

I have said no to a salon as it just feels far too grown up and I hate the idea of them having food spas and face masks etc.
Instead I am thinking of doing a party either at home or in a hall which would include afternoon tea and party games but also some nail painting, face / body / hair glitter, tattoos, maybe hair braiding etc for those who want it.

What do you think. Are other parents of 5 / 6 year olds going to judge me for this? Would you be happy for your child (male or female) to be invited to this?

and lastly, what could I call it on the invitation? I want to avoid the word ‘pamper’!

You doing the party in a hall sounds like a good idea. The activities sound like it will be a nice fun party. I'd just call it DD's birthday party - that's what it is.

A party in a hall sounds perfect - have a little corner for face painting, glitter etc and maybe a bouncy castle or football or something for them to let off steam

Sounds nice! I can’t stand the pamper parties either for little girls although I expect one day I shall give in! Mine is having an arts and crafts party.

Thanks guys, sounds good. I really don’t want to do anything too big this year though. We have just come out of the foundation year of whole class hall parties, mostly with the same entertainers (which we also did for her 5th bday) and I honestly couldn’t stand another one. Hence the reason for trying to go with a theme and maybe a max of about 10 guests.

Am I mad to consider doing it myself and not having ‘entertainment’? I would have a few friends and family helping.

There are companies set up for this who will come to your house and do glitter tattoos, hair etc. my daughters have been to a few of them normally in someone's house though.

You can buy glitter tattoo sets with stencils. Dead easy. Face painting needs more skill IMO! Maybe hire a face painter unless someone you know is good at art.
