How to drop the last nap

DD 2.5 she only has max an hour nap, I wake her for 1pm then bed time was 7:30-8 but recently became 8-8:30, this evening (after only having a 40 minute nap today) she took an hour to go to sleep and fell asleep at 9pm. I really feel like this is too late.

Please can I have some advice on how you stopped the last nap?

Bring bed time earlier by length of nap plus 30 mins. Don’t drive anywhere in the late afternoons. It will take 2 weeks for her to get used to the change.

We’ve been cutting gradually, so about a month ago we cut down from 1hr to 30mins. And then in the last 2 weeks it’s 20mins. Every time bedtime starts getting later, we cut by a bit more.

We did try to just cut the nap out completely but it seemed 1hr to nothing was too much of a jump for him and he seemed grumpy most evenings and was waking lots at night due to over tiredness.
