Joolz Aer Plus or Bugaboo Butterfly?

Buying a stroller very shortly for my 13 month old and torn between the Bugaboo and the Joolz. My son loves naps in the pram, so I'm wanting something that I can use every day that he can also sleep in. My issue with the Bugaboo is that it doesn't recline flat, and also the Joolz recline mechanism seems faffy to let down when the baby is actually in the pram. The Joolz also seems more comfortable than the Bugaboo and is lighter to carry.

Wondered if anyone has used either and has any thoughts?

Thanks :)

I have the joolz aer plus so can only comment on that one. It's super lightweight and folds really small. I don't even need to use the boot I can put it in the passenger foot well. DS naps very well in it. The extendable canopy makes it dark for naps which is good. I find the recline fine for laying them down but it's impossible to put them back upright again without kneeling on the floor. Fine if it's dry but not so good of it's raining. Tbh that's it's only flaw.

Which did you decide on?

Allthesweets · 23/10/2023 14:04

@LiquoriceAllsorts2 I bought the Joolz but returned it, as the mechanism to recline it and take it back up while son was in the stroller was terrible. Going to buy the butterfly now.

@Allthesweets did you buy the butterfly?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 04/12/2023 01:28

I now own both and would highly recommend both. They each have things that I would say are slightly better than the other but ultimately it is very difficult to choose between them (unless you want it for an under 6 months in which the aer is suitable and the butterfly isn’t).

@LiquoriceAllsorts2 thanks for coming back to me, do you have a footmuff for your butterfly? I was wondering if it folds down with this on

Allthesweets · 11/12/2023 19:13

Hi :) yes I did buy butterfly. It’s great and the recline function works so much better for me, really easy smooth action for when he naps in the pram. I found the Joolz recline function really difficult to use while he was in the pram.

I have a foot muff on and I’ve not tried to fold it yet but I imagine it won’t fold as neatly. Will try tonight and report back.

I also like that the butterfly comes with a foot rest, you need to buy that as an extra with the Joolz.

I haven’t got a foot muff so I don’t know.

Gigi89x · 12/12/2023 21:24

@Allthesweets any luck with the folding with footmuff at all?

Allthesweets · 14/12/2023 17:22

It folded fine :). I have the John Lewis everyday foot muff.

The Bugaboo Butterfly does not have a flip-flop friendly brake, so if you'll be using the stroller with sandals, that might not be too much fun. The Joolz Aer+ does have a flip-flop friendly brake, so if that's important to you, we'd recommend the Aer+.

I found a detailed comparison blog that you can read here: https://pishposhbaby.com/blogs/blog/bugaboo-butterfly-vs-joolz-aer-stroller

The brake on the butterfly is a lot better than the brake on the Joolz and is definitely able to easily do in flip flops (I have a lot of experience). The Joolz are brake is also easy to press (with flip flops) but doesn’t sometimes comes partially on whilst you are pushing the chair and you can also move the chair a bit with it on the brake. I love both but the brake is one element that the bugaboo has better.

Hello, sorry I know this is an old-ish thread but I’m really interested in this comparison too!

I’ve got an old bugaboo bee which I’ll use as long as I want the seat parent facing but once my six month old is big enough I’m keen to get a lighter pram

However I don’t want to use the yoyo again as the tiny basket drives me mad

I’m basically looking for a stroller like the yoyo but with a better basket. How do these two compare on that score please? I’m leaning toward the butterfly as it seems to have much more space than the yoyo ?

also, are either of the handles on the butterfly or the joolz adjustable, or are they fixed? That’s another thing that annoys me a bit about the yoyo albeit to a lesser extent!!

Neither the Joolz or butterfly have adjustable handles.

if the basket size is most important then go for the butterfly, it’s a lot bigger
