hello I’m EBF dc1 and I’ve just done a pregnancy test that is very very faint. I’ve not had a period yet since post partum so no idea about my cycles. I assumed I wasn’t having any cycles. Is it possible this could be a real positive? It’s only 5 days after sex so a bit confused. I did the test on a whim As dc1 was napping for longer than expected so I had time on my hands and I had an old test in the bathroom. It just seems very early for a positive test.

Has anyone else had a faint early test this early? Or is it just so early it was a waste of time.

@marymungoNminge 9 months but she still feeds through the night really. I just wasn’t sure if pregnancy test can pick up so early. Everything I read online suggests no but then it also says a positive usually isn’t wrong so I am confused

If it’s only 5 days since intercourse and that’s the only time you’ve done it then no, it won’t be positive, the embryo (if there is one, will only be due to implant to day or tomorrow if you were ovulating on that day).

hmm thanks perhaps I’ll take another test on the weekend. Hate feeling In limbo as it definitly showed positive on the test. Thank you

How recently had you had sex prior to 5 days ago? 5 days does seem a bit soon.

I fell pregnant first cycle while breastfeeding about 10 times per day, with around half of those feeds at night.

The limbo is horrible though, I totally agree.

What brand of test was it? The Clearblues are awful for evaps and false positives.

Probably best to take another test in a few days and see - it's never clear when your cycles will restart, it's different for everyone and they can definitely restart while you are still bf I'm afraid! That said it does sound pretty early...

It was just a boots early detector one. But it’s really old! Just been sitting in my cupboard. Probably three years old.

It must have been a false negative, or I did the test wrong as testing negative now. Thanks everyone for your helpful comments last week.
