Child age 3 new to nursery - anyone else?

My dc, just turned 3 has started mornings at nursery this week and is the only child who’s obviously struggling. In the main he’s only ever been with me or his dad (SAHD) and so the whole drop off scenario is new to us all. I think all the other children have probably been in daycare before. This week there are just 8 of them - summer babies. Next week, there’ll be 26 of them - and just two teachers.
Anyone else in or has been in the same boat? Tips or handholds welcome!

I'd keep it cheery and positive. Expect them to be tired and have a few tears.
Take a drink/snacks with you to pick up in case they're thirsty/hungry.
Have a few easy questions about school - did you do anything fun/was lunch nice? But (depending on the child) they might not be very chatty (mine would give it me chapter and verse!)
Be calm and organised in the morning.

2 teachers for 26 children doesn't sound like a legal ratio so I'd check.

Drop offs are hard, they cling to you tightly like a monkey. More often than not they are fine within a few minutes of you leaving and they slowly get used to it. You're only doing half days so that help - it's a gradual introduction.

Yes, this morning, it was exactly as you describe. Thanks
