I feed to sleep but baby is starting nursery = nap anxiety!

I’ve got a 9 month old who will start nursery part time in a few months (half days 5 days a week) as I have to get back to work. I exclusively feed to sleep or occasionally have him sleep in the sling if we’re on the go (he refuses to sleep in the pram now…). It works brilliantly and there’s never any crying involved, plus I love it. However, flip side of that is that I’m incredibly worried about how nap times are going to go down once he starts nursery… Have any of you been in similar situations and have personal stories/advice to share regarding this?

I promise childcare providers are magic. DS was fed to sleep, aged 7 he still doesn't sleep without cuddles first. He slept for nursery, they always do.

Exactly like I always say - nursery workers are magicians! They do some magic stuff with children at nursery and they become different people who sleep independently and eat well.

Unfortunately those new skills remain at nursery and they don’t act the same at home!

Definitely something about the group mentality at nursery that makes babies and toddlers become different people. DS was the same re feed to sleep but at nursery, he lies down and puts himself to sleep. Does he do the same at home? Nope! Still needs to be held and cuddled!

Baby will be fine. Dd was a horrid napper, slept like an angel at nursery. God knows how they do it!

She was bf to sleep, contact naps the whole shebang. She used to take herself off to her mat at nap time and put herself to sleep at nursery! No such luck at home of course 😂

This was my DD until nursery, even though bottle fed I was the only one she would sleep for. Now it's just that I'm the only one she'll sleep for at night 😂. You might have a week or so of picking him up and him being exhausted due to no nap but he will soon get use to it. My DD is now 18mo and sleeps better for naps at nursery than at home but that could be because she doesn't nap at nursery until about 2:30 as she's (as the nursery workers put it) one of the hardcore ones that refuse to sleep as they're playing to much!

@ana101012 haha, that’s hilarious and once again reassuring! Glad to hear your little one enjoys nursery x
